Day 6- Working in the Store

At 9:30 am, Brooke and I hopped on the train and headed to Boston. Today, we were going to experience working in Remy (just the two of us) and what it’s like to work in retail. We got to the store and opened it at around 10:30. We cleaned and made sure everything was looking good. We knew that it was going to be busy since it was sunny and hot so we were preparing for lots of customers. I could explain what happened during this shift but instead, I’m going to share everything we learned. We learned how to restock low inventory and quickly find specific sizes with customer requests. We learned that when we engaged with the customers and make friendly conversation, they were more likely to spend more time browsing or trying on clothing. We learned how to work together in small quarters and know what person had what job to do. And finally, we learned how to adapt quickly when faced with a challenge, all while staying cool, calm, and collected. Today was successful because we got to experience and understand what a day working in the retail business looks like.
